Jaws Newsletter 2:26
1 Jul by Jill Schlenker
Hey Jaws,
Sorry this is a little late today, but here it is the update for this week.
First off congratulations to Harper for officially punching her ticket to state for this summer in West Fargo this weekend. We would also like to congratulate Becca on punching her ticket to state officially on June 22nd in West Fargo. Becca and Madison also achieved state qualifying times for their age groups for the state meet during the winter season and are eligible to compete in those events at the state meet this summer as well. To see a full list of what the athletes have qualified in please visit our website and at the bottom of the page you will see their names, age groups and their events they have qualified in.
Next this weeks theme is “Show your USA pride (drag week).” The drag week portion is for the main jaws crew. What this means is this week at practice the athletes will be swimming in closing and will have a lot of resistance training. So, if you have old clothes (shirts, pants, sweat shirts, shoes that can get wet or even old tennis shoes that may not fit (we will cut the toes off for the athletes to use or we will keep them on hand for the next time) your athletes can wear to practice and can be in the pool with those please bring them. They can be left at the pool at night to dry and they will be able to take them home next week or if you would like to donate them to Jaws we will take them for use throughout the year.
Drag week is a time honored tradition with Jaws that helps they athletes apricate getting to swim with just a suit on. You may be saying swimming in clothes isn’t that hard to do? Yes it is however, this is a great way for the athletes to push themselves, we also remove the clothing during practice so they are not in everything all the way to the end of practice.
Finally, Practice this week is only Tuesday and Wednesday so everyone have a happy and Safe 4th of July week and weekend!
Swim Fast! Go Jaws!
